Week Sixty-Eight: "Coffee makes my head hurt"

  January 22, 2018
Dear People,  Chang-eun is still being his ridiculously golden self. This week we taught the word of wisdom after church.  Chang-eun: "I can't see a single redeeming quality in alcohol. There is nothing good about it." Part of Korean business culture that has thankfully been changing recently is bosses will frequently take all their employees out for dinner and drinks and the culture makes it super tricky to refuse alcohol. Elder Choi has already lived the Korean college life and so he was able to share about what he has done to keep the word of wisdom and another member was also present in the lesson so he was able to testify and share personal experience as well. He also said that coffee has always messed with his head. It's humbling to see how this is not our work, God does the heavy lifting and missionaries just get to sit up close and watch Him.  Elder Choi and I probably made about 200 cookies this week and gave them to people. One day we felt like we should ride a bus for over an hour to go to the very edge of our area to see if we could deliver cookies to a couple less active families. We had no appointment with either of them and didn't know if they would be home. At one house no one was there so we were about to awkwardly put the plate of cookies in their gross mailbox but they showed up right before we were going to leave and seemed genuinely happy to find us there, which is rarely the case in visiting less actives...  I felt so much love this week, for and from others, but especially for and from Jesus Christ. He lives. He loves us. He does not judge or give up on us. He wants to take our sins from us.  When we obey Satan we will always be sad. When we obey the Spirit we will always be happy. We'll feel energized and powerful and confident. We will learn wisdom. I know the scriptures are true. I know that Russel M. Nelson is God's prophet. I share the testimony I have received of this in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.  Elder Brown  I noticed this ad in at a bus stop and did a happy dance. It shows some alcohol turning into a snake and says "Alcohol is Poison"
